Have you been wondering what the hot, up-and-coming destinations are for 2023? Sometimes we get the urge to travel, but we don’t know where to go. Let me help you make that very important decision, here are my picks for the top travel destinations of 2023.
Jordan
The first thing you need to know about Jordan is that you need to go. Jordan is safe, welcoming and an adventure you didn’t know you needed. I quickly fell in love with Jordan, it is definitely my favorite Arab country to date (I have also been to Morocco and the UAE). The people, the food, the landscapes are unforgettable. Most people go to Jordan to discover Petra for themselves, but my favorite part was our night glamping in the Wadi Rum Desert!
Panama
Panama has been a great destination for affordable overwater bungalows, but now there is a luxury option! Nayara Resorts just opened a new resort in Bocas del Toro that has overwater bungalows and treehouses. Gone are the days of flying all the way to the Maldives for overwater bungalow bliss. But first, start with a night or two in Panama City. Take in the utter size and complexity of the Panama Canal, check out BioMuseo, sip on some local brews or have a cocktail on one of many rooftop bars.
New Zealand
Since we’ve been cooped up these past few years, New Zealand is the perfect destination to get outside. Explore the great outdoors, experience a new culture, or taste the local beer and wine, the options are endless. Plus, flying to New Zealand just got a little more comfy! Air New Zealand is offering a new seat option in economy called “Skycouch.” You can have a whole row of seats for one to three people, each seat has a footrest that pulls all the way up to create a deeper seat. And you don’t have to pay full price for all three seats.
Portugal
I was recently asked why everyone is flocking to Portugal right now. The truth is, there are a lot of reasons. Portugal is safe, affordable, rich in culture + history, and the climate is ideal. Not to mention the gorgeous beaches, Douro Valley wine region and the food scene is top notch. It’s also a sustainable and wellness destination. There’s something in Portugal for everyone, this is why it’s one of my top travel destinations.
Japan
Japan is open again and ready for tourism, go beyond Tokyo and its exceptional culinary scene. Most people want to go in the spring for cherry blossom season, but why not visit in winter for epic skiing and snowboarding! Ikon Pass includes two destinations in Japan now. Looking to do something even more adventurous, give catskiing or heliskiing a try. Not into winter sports, visit one of the snowiest places on Earth or thaw out in some hot springs with the resident monkeys.
Loreto, Mexico
Loreto may be one of Mexico’s best kept secrets. It is located in Baja California Sur on the Sea of Cortez, also known as the Gulf of California. Jacques Cousteau deemed the Sea of Cortez the world’s aquarium and the waters off of Loreto are now protected as the Parque Nacional Bahía de Loreto. This makes it the perfect destination for fishing or scuba diving. Loreto is the historical capitol of the Californias. The first mission was built in Loreto by the Jesuits in 1697. It is also a Pueblo Magico, which are towns in Mexico known for their beauty and history. There are only two in Baja, the other is Todos Santos.
I hope I have inspired you to visit one of these top travel destinations for 2023. If you liked this blog post, be sure to check out Everything you need to know about Jordan! Don’t forget to book your trip with your favorite travel advisor, yours truly.
