My favorite cities to get lost in

There are just some cities where you can wander around with no agenda what-so-ever and still have the most beautiful day ever. These places are generally small cities that are very walkable, the people are friendly and the scenery is unforgettable. This is a list of my favorite cities to get lost in.

Bruges, Belgium

We didn’t really have a plan for our day in Bruges except for a brewery tour. We hopped off the train from Brussels and headed straight to the brewery. It started off as a beautiful sunny day, that later became overcast. After the brewery tour, we kind of just meandered around the city and found beauty in all its little corners. Dropping in here and there for a Belgian beer paired with delicious cheese. Or enjoy a glass of wine with roses hanging overhead from the beamed ceiling. Definitely add Bruges to your Belgian itinerary and I also highly suggest watching the movie, In Bruges, before visiting.

La Paz, Mexico

La Paz, Mexico is located a couple hours north of Cabo San Lucas in Baja California Sur. This is a popular place to visit to swim with whale sharks. The hotel we stayed at in La Paz was a ten minute drive outside of the city and that was definitely something we regretted. The city offers bars and restaurants with great views, a beautiful mission and a feel that brings you back a few decades. One day we decided to walk into town, which took us about an hour. There wasn’t a sidewalk the whole way, but we made it work. Once we got to the Malecón, we stopped to grab an ice cold beer before taking our self-guided tour of the city.

Chefchaouen, Morocco

This beautiful blue city was made for getting lost in, my favorite part about Chefchauouen was just meandering around the streets. I suggest waking up early one morning and experiencing Chefchaouen when everyone is still sleeping and it’s eerily quiet. Take wrong turns, go off the beaten path away from the crowds. You will come across some beautiful and different photo opportunities, find your favorite blue door and take a picture in front of it. Be prepared to see cats and kittens everywhere, you will definitely want to take one home if you are a cat person.

Guatapé, Colombia

Guatapé is a colorful little town conveniently located two hours outside of Medellín. You can do it as a day trip from Medellín, but I highly recommend staying a night to enjoy the town with less crowds. I definitely suggest a walking tour of Guatapé to learn about the history, but afterwards explore on your own. Grab an ice cream cone and walk around the vibrant streets. And when you’re sick of walking, post up at a little café until it’s time to catch the bus back.

I hope I have inspired you to visit one of my favorite cities to get lost in. If you liked this blog post, be sure to check out La Paz, Baja California Sur, Mexico! Don’t forget to book your trip with your favorite travel advisor, yours truly.
