The Best of Buffalo

I lived in Buffalo for three years, just long enough to become acquainted with all it has to offer. I wasn’t the biggest fan of it in the winter time, but it is a pretty cool spot in the summer time. Buffalo is going through a resurgence and it is a great time to visit.

Breweries/Bars:

  1. Community Beer Works – has the best beer in my opinion
  2. Thin Man Brewery – also has great beer & the crack pie is phenomenal
  3. Big Ditch Brewing Company – good beer & food
  4. The Moor Pat – small craft beer joint with 20 taps

Restaurants:

  1. Toutant – this was my favorite restaurant while we lived there, has some great New Orleans vibes. Great for dinner or brunch.
  2. Dapper Goose – great for a glass of rosé & a cheese plate
  3. Teton Kitchen – best sushi spot we found

Breakfast:

  1. Breadhive – best bagels ever, enough said.
  2. Squeeze Juicery – awesome smoothies & smoothie bowls
  3. Swan Street Diner – mini donuts & milkshakes to die for

Activities:

  1. Hike Devil’s Hole State Park
  2. Catch a Buffalo Sabres hockey game at HARBORCENTER
  3. Take the bike ferry from Canalside to Outer Harbor, bonus if there’s some sort of festival going on.
  4. Whirlpool Jet Boat tour on the Niagara River

Buffalo Staples:

  1. Anchor Bar – battle of the Buffalo chicken wing, “the original”
  2. Duff’s Wings – battle of the Buffalo chicken wing, my husbands favorite
  3. Charlie the Butcher – beef on weck carved right in front of you. If you’re not from western New York, you probably have no idea what weck is, it’s a type of bread.
  4. Ted’s Hotdogs – famous footlong hotdogs. I didn’t eat meat when I lived in Buffalo, but I loved their veggie dog with Mac & cheese on top!

Include Buffalo in on your trip to Niagara Falls and make sure not to miss Niagara-on-the-Lake, my favorite little picturesque town in Canada. Don’t forget to book your trip with your favorite travel planner, yours truly. Hope you enjoyed my version of the best of Buffalo, check out The Best Places to Eat in Banff!
